Squash Ball Halo (DWL)
March 11, 2007
Well now…..I was on the court yesterday and I got in the way of a nice low hard shot (my fault!)…..thought I would share the results with everyone….there is no mistaking the signature halos (purple, A, and red, B) of bruising from being hit with a squash ball! The picture was taken 24 hours after the incident.
The last time I was hit that hard was about two years ago when I played Steven Banks in the final of the Rustremover (same spot….my fault again!). I was hit in the first game, and apparently it became quite an attraction to the crowd to watch the bruising develop and change colors as the match went on!….well…..at least they got their money’s worth!

Thats quite the injury, though not quite as rough as the out Scott sustained at the Nationals a while ago. And to speak of the devil Buchanan and I were out at the Aqua Plex last night for Monday night squash, but where was Gamble? Well, we all have out theories for his 3 week absence, but I suspect he’s running scared. Also missing in action is Dear old Dad, and we all hope he shows up soon, I wonder what’s keeping him at home anyway?

Scott...aka...Dad | March 13, 2007 at 1:00 pm
Hey Boys….nasty bruise Derek. I’ve had a few myself. Not fun.
Indeed, Petey…you are correct…Dear Old Dad has been absent from the Aquaplex for over a week. Dad is recovering from a wound that required 20 stitches between shoulder blades…Not fun.
Stitches come out this Friday…I should be back in game form…next week.
I miss all my boys…but where…oh where…is my oldest boy?

Well it’s true. I’ve been absent from the game for a bit and really and truly I don’t have any legitimate reason for the most part but one thing is for sure…I am not running scared. Something I’ve noticed since the Mill River Tournament where a couple of local competitors fell short of their goals have recently taken major actions to try to boost their fanclubs. It’s hard to believe but Peter T. Webb has cut his greasy mop and has been making an attempt to portray a more sophisticated and respectable style to attract some new cougars to the courts while Mikey B reached out to a new colour scheme after purchasing Peter’s leftover hairpieces on EBay. As for Dad…20 stitches is a hell of a gash. Way to go! Not many men can take a performance like that.

Well the reason I am revamping my style is because it’s important to stay fresh, it keeps the fans interested. Aside from that, reaching goals as you mention, is selfish is terms of athleticism. The true test of an athlete is leadership and I believe if you check with the Team Nationals forms the captain of the PEI squadron was dubiously yours truly. With a good leader you and Mike would have been directionless. And though our preparation time was sort even Jeff Evans remarked he was pretty impressed with the both of you. I’m proud of you boys and I believe Dad whenever he gets the stitches out will say the same

I have to say that you definetly led us in a way I’ve never seen before. Oh and speaking of stitches…did you ever get your brokeback shirt repaired…or washed?

Scott, there’s only one way to settle you’re intense jealous for my personal style. We’re going to have to have a walk-off like in Zoolander starring Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson. Let me know the time

So even though you cut your hair off you still would like to be referenced to Owen Wilson but let’s face it…the only thing you have in common with him is the relationship you share with your socks as in You, Me, and Dupree.

Which reminds me, Scott buddy, Since the folks are going to Europe and I’m incapable of running a house, I’m going to have to stay in your living room for a couple of weeks, I’m not going to be any trouble, though, but if you could get a bean bag chair for me to sleep in that would be great. Laters! Oh and by the way, do you want to get killed at squash tonight or are you still throwing in wood?

It’s funny how my memory has been playing tricks on me since I had the flu but I can’t recall you ever killing me at squash plus I didn’t get enough wood in last night so I’ll have to put more in tonight.

Didn’t get enough wood in ay? Surprising a rugged lumberjack like yourself couldn’t get it done. But you weren’t out on Monday either, It’s almost like you’re enclosing yourself from us, but I’m sure when you return to the courts you’ll shine as bright as ultraviolet rays. Yes I suspect you’ll be burning up the courts one of these days

Burning is a good idea since you’ve been in there stinking it up like Andrew C Gaudet after a night at the Salty Sea Dog.
